If Barrick backs in, ATN would lose the profit margin associated with the 70% of the gold sales. However, Barrick would be able to upfront capex for the mine relatively easily whereas ATN would have to go to the market likely for more dilution to fund a mine. I haven't crunched the numbers but it would be interesting to see what is more beneficial to ATN. I am sure someone at ATN and/or Barrick has done this.
