Just reading an old book on poker from 1971. This was about the time that I was most involved in 7 card stud. The author mentions a "new game" called "hold me darlin" where the "widow" is dealt face up after two down cards and then two additional cards each followed by a round of betting. He had A,K against a pair of queens and did not know his best play because there is nothing on the game. He analyzed it later at home and found (if I remember this correctly) that his A,K, was worth a call because it had a .44% winning chance. He goes on to predict that this new game of "hold me, darlin" is going to relegate the other poker standbys to the back row because of the action involved!

He makes an astute observation that poor players always suspect that the other fellow is bluffing, and will never ever ever throw in a "winning hand". I have put this into my own words: If you think somebody is bluffing, you are right. Figure out who it is before you go broke... :-)
