I don't mind your preference
Personally, I'd like lots of body armour and a bullet proof helicopter [preferably an invisible one]. That's if I couldn't have a Predator do the work with me hiding way over the ocean out of reach of the enemy.

But I like what Patton said on this too:
“It’s the unconquerable soul of man, not the nature of the weapon he uses, that insures victory.”

And the bottom line: Americans play to win at all times. I wouldn't give a hoot and hell for a man who lost and laughed. That's why Americans have never lost nor ever lose a war.
