John, here some relevant and official hurricane data (valid through 2004 only). Kind of remarkable that out of the 15 hurricanes 1960-1969 a full 12 should have been in 1969 leaving only 3 for 1960-1968? Also the 1950-1959 decade seems to have been the worst hurricane decade recently. Did you live in FL back then? Haven't so far taken the time to compare the official data with the data presented by you here though. I don't live in FL ;) But I am actually going 3/13-16 so I will definitely watch out for "irresponsible Volvo drivers", where one of them could be you I guess :) Taro nhc.noaa.gov
