I checked out the damage first hand in Bay St Louis a few weeks ago. The land slopes up a decent amount perhaps 15-20 ft right near the coast to where the foundations sat. It was total devastation of just about everything within a quarter mile of the coast reduced to rubble. Up to a half mile inland was also very bad with serious damage but most homes still standing.

These stats show an average of 25 ft above sea level.
