sandintoes, When the violence is perpetrated on the male, it's a lot more complex than that. He doesn't want to leave either, feeling a moral obligation to his family. Often to most times, he remains to protect the children. If there are shelters for battered men, I remain unaware.

If and when the violence escalates to a point that the authorities are called in, yes, the woman will go to jail, but this is a very rare occurrence. Should this become the case, who takes care of the children, especially on short notice, while papa goes to work? - Holly
