Paul, it is easy to imagine many people have capital loss carryforwards that they cannot easily burn through. consider how many people lost 80% or more of their portfolios between 2000 and 2002. i know plenty of people in that boat. they will need to quintuple their portfolios from the 2002 lows before they burn through their losses.

i also agree about accountants.
