re: A military solution to a political problem is being shown to have major problems. That's good, hopefully the next time someone wants to go charging in their guns a blazin' they will consider 20 more years of sanctions as an alternative.

That's some good learning for you... as you were pretty gung ho on using the US military to topple one nasty regime after another. I'm not sure that you really grasp what a long term disaster the Iraq adventure has been for this country, but you are young, you have time to figure it out.

I would really like to hear the current opinions of the other hawks... they certainly had strong opinions over the last 3 years. Now.... silence. Did they run out of bluster?

BTW, did you see this? The troops want out, the polls show the people of the US want out, the Iraqi's want us out, the whole world never wanted us to go in. The only lagging group are our politicians... they want to "stay the course". How many more US soldiers get killed before the politician come around?

The poll is the first of U.S. troops currently serving in Iraq, according to John Zogby, the pollster. Conducted by Zogby International and LeMoyne College, it asked 944 service members, "How long should U.S. troops stay in Iraq?"

Only 23 percent backed Mr. Bush's position that they should stay as long as necessary. In contrast, 72 percent said that U.S. troops should be pulled out within one year. Of those, 29 percent said they should withdraw "immediately."
