While I see the hypocrisy in this issue also, your apparent assumption that radar is no longer needed or used on the water is not accurate. While GPS now provides almost all navigational direction on the water, radar is still heavily relied upon for avoidance of other vessels, navigational aids or land itself at night or low visibility situations. GPS should never be relied upon as the sole source of navigation.

As one who has worked in the marine industry for nearly 20 years and commercial fishes in Alaska I can tell you radar is still an basic part of marine navigation. If, and I say if, the wind mills may cause problems with radar then it is a valid issue.
