Reminds me of walking around in the Gorkij park with 2 fingers stretched from your Napoleon grip "Na Trai Ich" style meaning that you look for a company of 2 to share a bottle of Vodka.

A troika thus formed each party pulls out his personal mustard glass (holds 100gram, always keep it ready in your shirt pocket), fills it with vodka and down it goes.

Not a word is said, no waste of words.
You keep your glass for a refill, no throwing over the shoulder except at big parties.

The park walking looking for partners started at 11:00. No vodka sold in any stores prior to 11am in the Soviet Union.
Nobody - except drunks - would ever drink alone. But I heard it was easy to find partners when thirst came up.
