I notice that you can make an assertion, but don't come up with an example of excellence in state performance exceeding private exchange of goods and services and values.

Of course governments protect and allocate the commons. That's what they are for. Find a steel mill, airline or school, hospital or other effort selling a service or product which is doing a great job, preferably in competition with a private effort so there's a benchmark. Given the amount of money they blow through, there must be swarms of examples.
