PowerLink Experience

My experience has been excellent and I'd highly recommend it. They did have an annoying couple of weeks of "teething problems" with the dialup end dropping the connection every couple of hours but the customer support folks were top notch. An amazing contrast to the desultory service I was used to from my former ISP. I now use PowerLink and would never go back.

I'm in South Florida and the cable TV does go out from time to time but I've been amazed to be logged on through PowerLink when my TV starts snowing and my connection is unphased. I guess digital is a lot sturdier than the analog TV signals.

I was perviously using a 56K dialup ISP. Cable Modems are to 56K as 56K is to 300 baud accoustic couplers. There is simply no comparison. DirectPC is a non-starter because of the price and the per-megabyte charges, as well as being a lot slower.

If you use the net for anything serious go with cable. You won't regret it. The only possible competition will be ADSL and I have a hard time seeing how they'll match the price when they finally show up.
