Sonus presentation at Goldman today. I won't re-iterate old stuff, here are notable updates.

- JAPAN TELECOM win today is for the core network, where JT will de-commission CS equipment in favor of Sonus VoIP equipment. It will occur over several years. The entire Softbank/JT core will be Sonus.

- Qualified DT as a core network win, but the several un-announced wins in Europe are more at the edge. They are also competing for many additional European wins. Some of the major 3G players in Europe are trying to offer landline voice as part of a bundle, this sounds like something they may be winning. If it then leads to network wins in the core and then edge for these wireless carriers it would be very large. Orange UK sounds like one of them, they are going to offer landline voice in a bundle in the UK(Orange would be like Vonage for the wired voice).

- Also said they are doing a lot for DT, in addition to technology they are enabling enhanced services, integration, and even some operations initially.

- Very bullish on their technology position, said in each major Tier1 they go up against an incumbent where the technology advantage is ALWAYS theirs(Sonus). Also consider themselves the true global player in VoIP since the incumbent is different across regions. I would phrase this a different way, Lucent has no chance to win against Sonus where they are not the incumbent, nor does anyone else. It is Sonus versus the incumbent, worldwide.
