Bush seems like a howdy doody Texan in more ways than one. He likes to put on a show of being a friendly cowboy type, seems to be handled by other people pulling strings and tries hard to win the hearts of his fans. He seems like a virtuous man and has been effective at accomplishing many of the goals of his administration. There has been too much emphasis on strengthening the Republican party and too little emphasis on the best interests of the country.

I would say Bush's primary claim would be his dealings with terrorists, and administrating the operations in Iraq. His strategy for dealing with the growing threat of terrorism has been effective on some fronts. The Taleban was an operant government instantiated by and covering for Al-Quaida. That form of government was highly effective at sestablishing itself in the unstable regions of Afghanistan and was starting to look like it had potential to spread. The spread was stopped, Al-Quaida was driven underground and demoted to an idea that could be organized by unrelated cells with diverse interests rather than a centrally organized world power.

The war against the regime in Iraq was won with efficiency; since then, the US military operations in the region have morphed into something else.

I wish he had shown more initiative in dealing with our southern states from New orleans to California. The region is beginning to look more like an unstable third world country.

The character and conscience of the American people in general has become much more self centered and disrespectful. As a result we have lost much of our greatness as a world leader and as a competitor in the World community. I don't blame Bush for that but I also don't credit him for having had the Charisma to inspire us toward greater good for ourselves and others.

Cheney is a hard *ss, and I don't warm up to that personality type as a rule. I abhore his attitudes about terrorism, and think his role should be more typically low key as a VP.

Their strength has been in confronting terrorism, while their weakness has been in having a clear and superordinate vision that we could grasp onto as a nation of people.

I didn't vote for them and wouldn't vote for them if they were able to run for another term.
