Yo....Wharf Parabolic solar collector. The Israelis have been doing them for a long time. Their design was copied by Solaron Corp. in Denver in 75. Problem they had with their (solaron) collector was the outgassing of the fiberglass housing and copper coating. It clouded the glazing glass. Not only that but the heat produced cracked every glass they tried except for Corning plate. And that was too bloody expensive to buy and caused the panels to not be cost effective without the solar tax credit Carter had in place in those good old days. And the box solar panel weighed 900 pounds. Took a hell of a roof to support an array. Problems, problems, problems. They went belly up with the problems...... The Israelis did it right. No panel. Just parabolic collectors aligned east to west with a pipe collector at the focus point. No glass to cloud or overheating cabinet. No fiberglass necessary. No heavy framework to support it. And the collectors produce hotter than hot water. Lots produce steam. That is where a Stirling engine would come in. And I bet the Israelis are working on that as well. Americans always seem to think inside the box. The Israelis took the box away. You think we might learn something from that. KISS Keep It Simple Stupid. Perhaps we should be like the Japanese after WWII and learn to copy....... Either that or begin to support alternative ideas with the capital necessary to produce true alternatives to the current energy paradigm. And not just a token investment but a long term strategy to rethink all levels of consumption. Best way I can think of to conserve. Turn off the STUPID TUBE. ps: bought a two cylinder Lombardini diesel engine yesterday. now i have the power plant engine i was looking for. got the water. got the solar. got combustion. missing the wind. thats next... bill
