To Tommaso: about your dislike of using "professionals" for tax preparation.

Well, you might win the day after all. I may have to eat crow now... and if I'm going to do it, I prefer late at night when it's quiet.

After twenty plus years of working the tax season, my guy is suddenly ill I find out today, and unable to service his many clients. A problem I had not at all envisioned.

So for now I am reduced to having to try Fidelity's TurboTax. Apparently I shall find out for myself what we - the program and I - can and cannot do with all my various income, expense, etc. activities.
