I think the next "shocking" trend to hit the domestic enemy is going to be longtime Senators and House members finally yielding to old age and the Reaper. Since Strom Thurmond hit 102, every old politician has come to recognize that as the norm. They are in for a surprise. The newest miracles of medical technology-with more coming every day-may extend the average life to triple digits someday. But that is far further in the future than the uninitiated can imagine. The USSC is as susceptible as the Congress in this respect.

The crusade against gerrymandering is a poor substitute for term limits and mandatory retirement ages.

By the same token, waiting for God to weigh in against the domestic enemy through the inevitability of old age is not a public virtue. If anything the Almighty may just hear one too many obscenities from the likes of Smilin' Joe Biden or Ted Kennedy, and sweep them all away in a matter of weeks.

Congressional and judicial term limits should be the 11th Commandment. Get out the chisel...
