"Facing" is an odd word in that context. I agree with you that "facing" suggests that your feet are north of your head, which is why I posted what I did. "Pointed" is probably a better word to use.

I had never heard of them. No, it's not like pool magnets. It's about lining your body up with the earth's magnetism.

Have you heard similar stories on NPR?

Maybe someone else can respond to that. I never listen to NPR. Sounds more like something you'd find on the House and Garden channel.

I am asking because there was this big commotion in the media regarding ID, and I do not see anyone questioning this.

I don't see any connection.
