Consumption rate in China is 45% in 2005 (comparing to 72% around mid-1990s!), and the world average is around 78%. The consumption rate for developed countries is 80%!

Between 1993 and 2003, China's average annual consumption rate was 59.5%. In 2004, it declined to 53.4%, and in 2005, it decline further to 45%!

Majority of Chinese now simply do NOT have much left to spend after paying for the basic food, shelter, education, and health care. All "thanks to" the stupid Zhu RongJi's reform in education, health care and housing!

GDP growth in recent years has been as high as 10%-11% annually, but the domestic consumption only increased around 8% annually, significantly LOWER than the so-called GDP! Most of the profit has gone to the big foreign companies! Whatever left has mostly gone to the few elite/corrupted businessmen and gov. tax. The majority of workers are only left with very little.
