Being pretty much pro-business Democrat (like the DLC - Democratic Leadership Conference / Bill Clinton / Blue Dog Democrat) having the hard left in the Democratic party is a bit of an emabarassment. It's like being on a second date, taking a young lady to a resturant, when your weird uncle stops by your table and starts talking about UFOs and how everybody's a fascist while staring at your date's chest and reeking of beer.... See the Howard Dean "Republicans are Evil" and other remarks... This is why Democrats can't even get to third base with the electorate.... ******* New York Times has moved left, left, left, in the past 15 years or so, and now they are left of even Howard Dean - they tried to hide it, because they would lose advertisers, with the occasional conservative columnist, like William Safire. ******* The US now has about a 1 1/2 party system - Democrats who can't get elected, Republicans who can't govern.
