09:19 SNDK SanDisk: NAND flash continues to slide, NOR is stable - Hambrecht (61.77 )

Hambrecht says they are seeing a mixed bag in the flash market. On the one side, we are experiencing a fairly stable pricing environment for NOR flash. On the other side, firm is seeing a deteriorating pricing market for NAND flash, which they expect to continue in the coming weeks. The NAND flash market is experiencing a seasonal oversupply which is combining both a slowness in demand, especially in the MP3 player side and additional supply from the major NAND flash supplier (largely Toshiba-SanDisk). This has resulted in deep price cuts by SNDK, which have yet to be matched by the NAND flash suppliers in early Feb. Firm anticipates further price cuts to likely occur in the next few weeks by SNDK, by as much as 15% in order to drive bit growth and flush out NAND inventory. The NOR flash market is continuing to see a stable pricing environment, and firm expects this to continue with ASPs to likely stay flat in March. For NOR flash firm continues to recommend SSTI. However, in NAND flash, firm is cautious on recommending any of their names in the short-term.
