Al, How do you reconcile the word appeasement with Iraq?

Saddam sure wasn't a stabilizing force by any stretch of the imagination. Sure, he's just one of many problems in the entire Middle East, but it's really easy to sit back now and say that Bush went too far in the wrong direction.

OK, so what were the alternatives? Take over Pakistan instead? I hear Osama is narrowed down to a 100 square mile radius. Great, let's take over and surround that region, then give the residents 24-hour notice. Too harsh? What if Osama isn't there? Blame Bush again?

It's really easy to point out the shortcomings of the Bush administration, this ports deal being the latest example. OK, Bush is ineffective. Still doesn't change the fact that the alternatives or lack thereof are worse.
