I see no inherent reason for any of us, or any Iraqi, to 'want' us Marshaling their country indefinitely. It should be 100% all around, except where mutually agreed upon interests and support are necessary. The current circumstance requires our continued diligence, but our mission should always include the desire to formulate an EXIT strategy.

This to me represents the biggest failure of the Bush Admin with respect to the Iraq operations. At this point we are not even clear on how to define the operation as a 'success' or as having achieved levels or success, or alternative modes of success, that would authorize our departure according to some strategy. It is having a very negative effect on the conscience of average Americans.

I see lefties hoping for some definition of failure that would occur because it would diminish Bush's ratings. I see right wingers claiming any kind of success as points for the republican party. Both of these extremist attitudes are exempliary corruption and guarantees that we all lose in the long run. I hope we can do better going forward.
