No way, those two? She wouldn't be relaying inside information to him concerning how her leadership of the fight in the Senate against the deal might just, poof, go away? Hush your mouth, no way, that is not how those two utterly honest types operate, is it?

Despite the fact that she would otherwise be able to change her mind on the merits of the deal, she cannot do so now as her feet are set in concrete thanks to Bill's involvement. Or unless 'significant concessions' are made thanks to Bill's stewardship

I don't quite get your point - she is opposing the deal now - are you saying she can't unoppose it unless Bill comes up with some big public concession?

The Dems could I suppose point out that she is not the only Senator married to a lobbyist, though none others are quite so high profile.
