I posted the opinion to DB a couple weeks ago that this whole Port thing is nothing more than politics. Some SI posters will or did, disagree. Especially, those focused the President.

What I have tried to look at is the "why" in the particular politician's action. What I found, in many cases and in both parties, is that the loudest screamers were those who: (1) Are up for election in '06, (2) Are wannabes for '08 or, (3) received a fair amount of largess from the longshoremen.

Not much else to it.

My personal view is that the purchase by DP should be approved.
