Bush has grown into the disdain of most people, this having nothing to do with what I think. I, like everyone, hold an opinion--what's wrong with that? And my opinion comes from weighing information I learn about, and I seek out research to support my opinions.
My beliefs are not rooted out of, as you suggest, a base prejudice but from my own learning process and it's not like I don't debate my views amongs those I know who hold opposite opinions.
I feel comfortable with what I believe, how I came to believe and the actions I take as a consequence of my knowledge. It's not prejudice. Moreoever, I think there are rationale reasons why most academics take a viewpoint that's contrary to the policies of the Bush Administration--they, too, have determined point/counterpoint considerations, not out of prejudice but in well-founded belief.
Let me ask you a question: Do you think it's right that the Republicans shut out the Democrats from participating in conference committees when tweaking out the final details of legislation? Democrats, when they held power, never did that to Republicans. Isn't that a form of stiffling debate? You bet it is! Now, let me ask you further: Is that prejudice? |
