I know of many people down here who are spending much more now in their 70's than they ever did when they were working. How many think nothing of spending $40-50k to completely redo the kitchen in their condo is amazing. Why won't that continue as boomers get to that age as long as the economy stays fairly strong? I've got 30 more years before even I get to that point<g>
