Sure. But those Democrats were interested in Indian issues long before Abramoff wandered onto the scene. The Republicans in question had little or no interest, and in some cases were opposed to, those Indian issues before Abramoff. After Abramoff turned on the taps, those Republicans were suddenly very supportive. Hence the legal issues.
