Democrat Wisconsin Governor Caught Up In Alleged Pay-To-Play Scandal

CQ Politics reports this morning on the ethics violations allegations that have consistently plagued Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, who is up for re-election this fall, saying “The Doyle administration’s ethics problems…almost certainly will deprive the incumbent the luxury of an easy race. His administration has become the target of federal, state and local investigations into ‘pay-to-play’ allegations surrounding a state travel contract and approval for the sale of a nuclear power plant in Kiewani, near Green Bay.”

Doyle seems to think that voters don’t care whether politicians are ethically corrupt however. When asked about the effects of Doyle’s ethical problems on the election, his press secretary “replied that constituents had other concerns on their mind:

<<< ‘Most people in Wisconsin really are worried about whether they can pay their heating bill right now, and that’s what the governor’s worried about.’” >>>
