ManyMoose, You are probably quite right in that assumption. <g>

Many, many years ago, somebody wrote a book which was a collection of mostly humorous vignettes describing happenings and mishappenings over the years on the California freeways from the time of their inception. I read some excerpts somewhere, and they were hilariously well written. I wish I could remember the author and/or the title of the book, but alas I cannot.

One story concerned a premature (or perhaps delayed) ribbon-cutting ceremony and parade on a brand-new freeway and the resultant potential for head-on collisions between the parade participants and the dozens of regular motorists who had been mistakenly allowed up on the freeway way too soon. Fortunately, this disaster was averted. Back then, California motorists had very quick reflexes.

Another concerned an overturned truck which had been hauling hundreds of cases of root beer. Apparently root beer foams even better than real beer. There was foam piled high and deeper everywhere, and the motorists, obviously caught off guard, were slip slidin' around and away.

I'll try to remember some others. The excerpts had me ROFLOL, but then I sort of grew up with the California freeway system and could well relate to the stories. - Holly
