Peter, A balanced budget would be nice, but there have been very few of them in history. Such may be a pipe dream.
Those that have read my posts for 9 years, or more, know that I am an avid Republican, and have supported the Bush family since 1960 when I first met GHW as he was running against Lloyd Benson for Senator, but what is happening today, is worrying me. We did our best to bring democracy to Iraq, which is admirable, but it seems that the hatred of the sects for one another, will never allow democracy to really get a foot hold in that country, so it is time to get our people out of there. It was a well played game, but we came out on the short end. Then yesterday, I heard something said by GW that appalled me no end. He was speaking in New Delhi, and told the Indians that Americans should not complain about the jobs that have been out sourced to India, but should welcome the competition. After fielding a number of calls from Asian Indian telemarketers that day, I got furious. I still think that GW is the better pick than any of his opponents, but needs to concentrate on being totally American in his thinking more. The port management thing is to our benefit, so I have no bitch there.
I also think the freign aid should be abolished completely. Why should we give our tax payer's money to nations that can't get off their asses and fend for themselves? Let the sink, or swim. |
