Cassius told Brutus.

"The fault dear Brutus lies not in our stars."

"But within ourselves."

I do not believe we are prepared. To stop a rock slide you be very careful to not kick the rocks loose. Because once the first rock moves.

The mountain moves.

What will it take to kick the rock loose on peak oil?

And a cascading series of events occur. Which alone would be controllable but taken event after event with no pause between we see the rockfall event occur.

I do not see our leaders walking softly among the rocks but simply pushing them out of the way. I have zero faith in them being careful. And very little faith in the general population being able to understand and change in time.

I expect the worst.

On the other hand. If we can protect the portions of industy vital to propelling mankind into a third wave economy we may be able to "engineer" our way to a rebirthing on Earth. And find ways to sustain a magical advanced planet.

Instead, we will probably see a blending of the two stretching the "birthing pains", toward a new future over twenty years. Allowing time for technology to catch the free energy train. But I do expect it to be a very painful birth.

Either way, I am certainly happy to have been born in this era and be a witness to such fantastic discoveries and technologies. I can hardly imagine how amazed I will be in twenty or thirty years. I look forward to it.

So. I prepare for the event and pray and work to make it so.

But I will be prepared either way.

And enjoying the ride. I am going to buy a fishing boat as soon as the housing bust starts catching hold. I figure the overinflated prices on those will be real cheap when the ARM's mortgage price raises the payments and these kids who are livin' on credit dump their toys.....

I will be waitin' in the wings.
