Steve,
You know what i mean. I am not making any judgments about the National Guard troops over there. I am sure that their service has been admirable. But there is big disparity as to why folks join the Guard or the Marines. In this rummified army, National Guard is doing things the most gung ho guard members never dreamed of. It is not surprising therefore that among our troops, National Guard soldiers want out in larger numbers than marines. I know that poll is not perfect but i think its becoming clear that after several years of trying to help these iraqis, there is a feeling of ambivalence among our men (top to bottom) on whether we can ever impose our will over there. mike
