There is public sentiment against the Iranian leadership. What would happen if external force were applied is anybody's guess. Solidarity did their thing without foreign tanks poised on the border.

Saddam found the Kurds in Iraq revolting and murdered hundreds of thousands of them. What would happen if the Mullahs found their students revolting?
