The Israel-Palestine situation in the US region......

Would be as if Castro had his communist revolution in the early 1950's (when a small but reasonable % of Americans were communists), he took over New Jersey rather than Cuba, 90% of the non-communist New Jersey residents fled to neighboring states, and the Soviet Union armed Castro such that the rest of the US could not get this commie new commie New Jersey out of the US, and the UN voted to recognize this new commie New Jersey (countries which voted to recognize commie New Jersey as a sovereign nation included Bolivia and Yemen, all the neighbors of this new commie New Jersey voted 'no' because New Jersey was historically US land....), and the rest of the world always wondered "What the hell is wrong with these Americans not accepting commie New Jersey? There are 49 capitalist states, why can't they accept one commie New Jersey state.

Only thing missing in the parallel is the New Jersey residents would have to become refugees. Maybe New York wouldn't accept them? :-)
