LOL! I guess SI powers that be gave up on waiting for hot get rich quick stock tips and reclassified our board as a politics and government board. As if what goes on in the world has no bearing on the markets. Seems a bit over the top and anal to me, but c'est le vie.
Perhaps the most undervalued issue of global politics in the last decade is this. . . . prior to America attacking Iraq, we were feared. Hostile countries believed we were capable of carpet bombing and dropping nuclear bombs like we did in World War II. Now that we have shown how surgical our strikes are and benevolent we can be with our enemies, why fear the United States?
The longer we hold Iraq's hand and allow our soldiers to be picked off one by one, the less we are feared by our enemies. Considering enemies such as North Korea, this sort of inaction and show of weakness could have tragic long-term consequences. We whine about not having enough troops to invade Iran, while the whole world listens intently.
Arguments to the absurd often sound ludicrous. Maybe one of the North African countries . . . who recently have been invaded and assumed by Arab groups, who are in turn persecuting Christian and tribal religious groups and forcing natives to take to the streets and live in tents. . . . should find some way to "wage war" against the U.S. So that we will come in, surgically remove those in power, install a democratic nation, rebuild infrastructure and stay around a few years restoring the order.
As for stock talk? Well, just when I thought this whole game couldn't get any more manipulated and corrupt, along comes real-time supercomputers that (according to reports from within Wall Street) reveal the next move of the small investor to those power houses that play against them as part of doing everyday business. This advantage is extremely powerful and unlike any we have seen before.
This is (one of several reasons) why small investors are having a really tough time winning in big ways. There are some winners, but they are mild by comparison to untethered days. From what I am seeing and hearing, longs, shorts, technical traders, swing traders and daytraders alike are all having a far harder time walking away a winner than at any time that I can recall.
So we could continue trying to find that elusive loop hole. . . bashing our collective heads against this ever-growing wall. . . or we can bide our time talking about things that affect our families our country and the world around us. . . until we see a chink in the armor.
Best wishes all,
