You're twisted with this "lefty" fantasy of yours. The real estate market on the west coast is controlled by Republican types, from the top down. All Arnold's buddies, the big land developers and speculators who want and get low real estate taxes. Why you'd consider real estate speculation "leftist" is beyond comprehension. Just one more Bushie dishonesty.
Obviously, living on the ocean where it's not hot and humid, and where local government keeps away the drilling rigs and polluters and tries hard to retain rustic charm is where people want to put their money. California in particular is one of the most desired palces in the world to live. The climate is wonderful and most of the coastal towns keep their environment clean and protected. That is the #1 reason the land is so precious.
I know the rightwing is trying hard to change the subject from Bush's failures and the GOP's corruption to an attack on gays and "California leftists", but knock it off, pal. It's all BS. Bush is unpopular here for good reason, but he's the worst president in history. But we elected Reagan, Arnold, Wilson, Deukmajian etc. so we're no "leftists". We're mainstream Americans and a lot smarter than states which vote for corrupt Bushies against their own best interests.
As for Washington and Oregon, they are also smart not to fall for Bushie BS, though they are both about 40% conservative. Mainly the types who want to cut down all the forests. In other words, short-sighted kill the Golden Goose types.
If you want to fix this country, boot out the greedy rightwing politicians who have taken us down the toilet. They're the ones in charge, the ones who've sold us out and they're the only ones to blame. |
