I find it mind-boggling that you only noticed racism being exhibited by Matt Dillon. You completely missed black characters being prejudiced against white, Hispanics, Middle Easterners and Koreans, and vice versa? What about Dillon's partner, so high-and-mighty about prejudice until he was in a bad situation and reacted (or overreacted)? What about multiple instances of black-on-black stereotyping?

Sheesh.

I guess you are an example of the point of the movie, which is that we tend to notice offenses against our own kind but are blind to offenses against others.

It's a common form of blindness.
