Actually what he does is to:

1] provide me with a comfort level reading on the portfolio of properties that the company owns and accordingly provides reviews on in its AR

2] offer critiques on each NR pertaining to drill results.

The latter is the most important advice that I rely on, especially in cases where the share price dives in the days following the release. But remember, his input is but one factor that I consider. So far he's saved me a lot of grief.
