NEW YORK (AFP) - Dana Reeve, the widow of "Superman" actor Christopher Reeve, has died of lung cancer, according to the foundation she founded with her late husband. She was 44.
Reeve died on Monday, said Kathy Lewis, president and CEO of the Christopher Reeve Foundation, which is committed to finding cures and treatments for spinal cord injuries.
"Dana will always be remembered for her passion, strength and ceaseless courage that became her hallmark," Lewis said in a statement.
"Along with her husband Christopher, she faced adversity with grace and determination, bringing hope to millions around the world," she added.
Christopher Reeve, who was paralysed in a riding accident, died in October 2004.
