There is an inevitability to user computing moving to a different architecture. I think we will move faster and faster towards the thin client model which requires remote storage and Google wants to be at the center of it.

Obviously this is a grave privacy issue but in reality we don't have privacy today as all communications can and often are monitored anyway. Unless voters can take charge and retake their government, I don't see how we will stop an ever faster slide towards a society with few individual rights to privacy or much else.

Given the tenor of many people on this board, a significant number even welcome such controls as most do not understand the extend of the loss we are incurring for a VERY marginal gain in perceived security. Manipulation done well is fascinating to watch. It takes an extremely suspicious mind to resist.
