Not a shred of credible evidence has ever been found that Saddam had anything to do with Al Qaida other than maybe wanting to kill them if they tried to move into his country.

Saddam was a secular, materialistic anti-Islamic ruler. He killed many-many Islamic extremists in his time. And if he were in charge now he'd catch Zarqawi and vivisect him.

Saddam may have been an evil man, but he was not pro Islamic fundamentalism. The only time he reached out to the fanatics was when he felt cornered by the US and wanted any regional allies he could find. Osama Bin lauden has never had a kind word for Saddam. Osama wanted him overthrown and replaced by a Mullah.
