The martyr syndrome of the USA is a bit pathetic. The USA is of course doing things the USA bosses see as being in their interests. The whining about serving the world is a bit tiresome.

People act in what we see as being in our interests and that might have the coincident effect of helping others at the same time. The USA did very well from the allies taking on Germany, but the allies weren't bleating that the USA was getting a free ride [well, maybe there were such claims and I guess there would have been].

Less bleating please.

But here's what can be done about Iran = ignore it. Just as Pakistan has had nukes for ages and so has China. It hasn't been a big problem. Khan was exporting nukes for cash and Libya got the kibosh put on that scheme and Khan wasn't allowed to do it any more. But Pakistan still has an Islamic Bomb. Iran having an Islamic Bomb too probably won't be that big a deal and might not be worth having a war over.

I'm surprised at the Russians being seemingly unworried about an Islamic bomb on their doorstep. Imagine some Chechens driving one to Moscow. Beslan would look trivial.

China too can't be enthralled at their western provinces being armed with Islamic Jihad nuclear weaponry either. One of those in Beijing's main square would annoy them a lot.

I think the USA can work through the UN. First thing to do is reconstitute the UN. The USA could lead on that. It needs renovation.
