You'd be arguing against the creation and the existence of FEMA then. Most states need to have a pretty tight budget. They can't have a rainy day fund for a "Katrina". That would be like having enough money in reserve to rebuild the entire city and levee system. Most states do not borrow money either.

I am against most Federal organizations. They tend to be a black hole of tax payer money with little return. It also goes against the Founding Fathers idea of a small Federal government, with the States having the power.

What Bush and FEMA have let happen in New Orleans is a travesty. We saw Bush come on TV and talk big...but so far no action. Plenty of wasted dollars and inefficient use of limited funds. A disaster followed by another disaster...the Bush no-response.

It is not the governments role. Let the people of this great nation help the gulf states out... I continue to give freely to Katrina charities. I have faith millions of others are doing the same.
