I really don't know as I do not have the worldly exposure you have had. But I would bet that many Asians the ones who have been poor in a relative sense compared to us will have learned the value of savings and some of the $$ will go to gold and silver and some to a TV, motor scooter or car or maybe even an apartment.

You and I have saved a nice chunk of money so there is US. Many have spent their home equity and in excess of income here and in Canada too I assume. So some of us save and some just squander. Asians are no different than us so some will save and some will squander been the same through history. But if the citizens of China are now allowed to buy gold on the open market my bet is some most certainly will.

As others have said many will also buy a tv so they can see Paris Hilton. <ng>
