There are many fine people in the NRA, but at its core, it's a hardline rightwing organization which disguises it's deep-down purposes in spin about gun safety, stopping criminals and the 2nd Amendment.

One of its hidden agendas is a racist one, that is to heavily arm white men against "looters". The other agenda is to boost profits of weapons manufacturers, no matter how many people get killed in the process. Therefore, it's another example of the hypocrisy of the so-called "pro-life" rightwingers.

One of the female heads of the NRA was somewhat honest about it. I heard her on the radio say "We're rednecks and we're damn proud of it".

If the NRA demanded psychiatric evaluations of all people allowed to amass arsenals I would feel a lot better about them, but remember Timothy McVeigh and the whole militia craze in the 90's against the federal government and its "jack-booted thugs"? Funny how that all disappeared once the rightwing took over the federal government. Eh? As if Clinton was more dangerous to our Republic than Bushies. On the contrary. Bushies are the ones who support Big Brother.
