Ranked Number One Online Broker for Execution and Research

CHICAGO, March 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- For a record-breaking fourth consecutive year, optionsXpress (Nasdaq: OXPS) has been named the top browser- based brokerage by Barron's in its annual review of online brokers.

In the survey, which appeared in the March 6, 2006 edition, Barron's noted optionsXpress for its solid trading platform, price improvement capabilities, wide range of research tools, tax reporting functionality and "wise" use of real estate on each page.

"optionsXpress is very proud to be recognized as the number one online broker by Barron's for the fourth year in a row," said David Kalt, CEO of optionsXpress Holdings, Inc. "While the ranking is a great honor, what we are most proud of is what Barron's referred to as our 'remarkable display of consistency.' While other brokers are busy with mergers and acquisitions, our sole focus has been and will continue to be improving the customer experience."

Barron's, which has been conducting the online broker survey since 1996, evaluated 14 browser-based online brokers this year, gauging their capabilities in the following areas:

-- Trade Execution
-- Trade Technology
-- Usability
-- Offerings
-- Research
