A major problem with the IBM Cell is, however, that it isn't a scalable architecture. Great for doing a super computer where you need most bang for the buck on each blade - assuming you have a major power plant right next door - but not the best for major real life applications like cell base stations, which now plan on going Soft Radio and eventually eliminate DSPs like from T.I. and ADI. A more practical alternative may be developments like pasemi.com Taro Taro
