Not sure the 'enemies of freedom' will ever be destroyed. Those in a position of power will often do anything to keep that power; such enemies are both foreign and domestic.

Even if Al Qaeda were destroyed tomorrow, a new group would rise. We need to arrive at a long term solution to living in this new globalized post-Cold War world, and it doesn't seem that we can go adventuring around the world. This globalized world must include some coalition that doesn't need to be thrown together at each crisis. If the UN is not that body, then one needs to take its place. But, we can do it alone or ad hoc.
