<Skype is already making money because they charge for some services.>

I would take it that several people at Skype have made some good money lately.

Sniped from a Market Watch article:

EBay Inc.'s (EBAY) $2.5 billion acquisition of Skype in October has the online auction site operator eager to get its money's worth

In addition to the traditional phone companies, Skype and Vonage face competition from other players. Indeed, Cablevision Systems Corp. (CVC) has a division that focuses on providing Internet phone service to small and medium business customers. Equipment vendors such as Avaya Inc. (AV) and Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) are also targeting those customers. A small business could have a dozen options for service providers.

EBay likes to say things like “we connect buyers with sellers” and I wonder if they’ll use Skype to let people talk to each other using the item for sale as ‘address’ for both. Or, maybe it’s just the VOIP revenue they want.
